Amara La Negra Among Honorees at the International Women of Power Luncheon

Reality star and entertainer Amara La Negra joined actress Yvette Nicole Brown, EVP, Chief Marketing Officer for BET Kimberly Paige, and Shine On Sierra Leone founder Tiffany Persons in being honored at the 3rd annual International Women of Power Luncheon, hosted by Diaspora Dialogues.

It was a scene of power, personalities and an extraordinary kickoff for Women's History Month, one day ahead of International Women's Day. Hosted by Loni Love, the event was attended by emerging and veteran stars alike, from A Different World's Cree Summer to Clueless' Stacey Dash to Melissa L. Williams, the star of BET+'s upcoming show Ruthless. The women spoke of womanhood and their roles and responsibilities.

"It's hard being a black female in media nowadays," told Buzz's Rae Williams. "You have to speak the truth and sometimes it's hard and sometimes it's not what people want to hear." Love cited Jemele Hill and Gayle King as two of the women she was currently watching in media, adding that her friend, honoree Yvette Nicole Brown was an enormous inspiration.

The stars appeared in dazzling African prints and impactful fashion, holding lifted hands together as they smiled for the cameras.

"The truth is, the way that the world is, all women have to be women of power just to get by. This is a very unjust world at this time and we all have to go the extra mile just to get by. Just to be seen, just to be hear, just to be equalized and acknowledged" Cree Summer lamented. Summer attended to honor her dear friend Tiffany Persons.

La Negra, who was also celebrating the launch of her children's book and a new campaign with Secret said "I'm proud to see that they're admiring my work. My work is being valued."
